The community of Storfjord is situated in the county of Troms.

It is the most southern of the six communities in the northern part of Troms. Storfjord has approximately 1880 inhabitants who live along the fjord and in the valleys. About 750 of them live in the village of Skibotn, which is the biggest village. Geographically Storfjord is situated in the centre of the county. The distances between the community and Tromsø, Finland and Sweden are short.

Storfjord is enriched with a fantastically beautiful nature with fjord, mountains, valleys and tundra. There are also many rivers where you may be lucky enough to catch a salmon, and the fjord has a rich variety of different fishes. We also have adjusted tracks for walking and scooter driving in all parts of the community.

The community of Storfjord has a special slogan: “Multiplicity gives strength.” This is our superior vision, and Storfjord builds its reputation on the cultural, linguistic and religious variety that has characterized our local history through centuries. In 2007, the local council carried out a resolution that all its activities shall be based on the three cultures and languages: Sami, Norwegian and Finnish. The three of them are equal in status.

The inhabitants of Storfjord can enjoy governmental economic incentives and initiatives, such as devaluation of student loans and extra deductions of taxes.
